Seating Policy

The Walrus and the Carpenter is not a large restaurant. In the event that you join us and we are full, we will take your name and your phone number, and we will call you as soon as your seats are ready. Our sister restaurant Barnacle is right next door, and is the perfect place to have a drink or a snack while you wait. If we’ve quoted you a longer wait, and you’d like to wander, there are many shops, bars and restaurants within immediate walking distance along Ballard Avenue.

Wait times vary depending on business volume. Fridays and Saturdays are generally busiest. We encourage guests to try to arrive before 7pm on these weekend nights.

The wait starts earliest on Saturdays & Sundays. Guests routinely start queuing up at 3:30 on these days for our 4pm open time.

Monday – Wednesday, and even Thursday, waits are less common and much shorter.
